The Addams Family Musical
Based on the bizarre and beloved characters created by Charles Addams, this original story finds the famously macabre Addams Family put to the test when outsiders come to dinner, hurling Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Fester, Grandmama and Lurch headlong into a night that will change the family forever.
Ok, this does spark my interest and how could it not? Have you seen the cast?
- Gomez — Nathan Lane
- Morticia — Bebe Neuwirth
- Mal Beineke — Terrence Mann
- Alice Beineke — Carolee Carmello
- Grandmama — Jackie Hoffman
- Uncle Fester — Kevin Chamberlin
- Lurch — Zachary James
- Pugsley — Adam Riegler
- Lucas Beineke — Wesley Taylor
- Wednesday — Krysta Rodriguez
I’m not that familiar with the previous carnations of the same title (the cartoon, comic, or movies) but for some reason I can’t help but feel that the stage is a great place for this to be.
Just on a visual note, it looks incredible. The dark edgy-ness that I can remember from the original material seems to be there and the costume and character design is unbelievable! Did you see Lurch?
I don’t know, what are your feelings on the matter?

Based on the youtube video, the stage appears to be a horrible place for the Addams Family to be. And as far as the cast goes, unless you pop a boner for Broadway musicals, the only recognizable person is Nathan Lane.
There is a real opportunity here for the stage to bring to life the odd, macabre, and occasionally disturbing lifestyle of the Addams Family, while they react to the ordinary as something odd, macabre, and occasionally disturbing. The perfect picture of suburbia completely inverted.
Like so many other Broadway musicals, I feel like this could be a lot better without the music.
Don’t get me wrong, this all based on what I see on the website and the video the Admiral posted. But if I’m paying $56–95 for the worst seats in the house and $136 for the best seats, I’m surely going to expect nothing less than perfection. Otherwise, I can just stay home and read and watch and laugh at the Addams Family for free.
